After earning a BFA from Miami University, I worked as an illustrator for many years.
I used pen and ink, colored pencils and watercolor, but my preferred medium now is oil pastels. And because I have an especially soft spot for dogs, they are the focus of my work. My 'uncommon canines' are depicted in vivid, unexpected colors that are never found in dogs. Why the odd colors? Ever the daydreamer, I suppose it satisfies my curiosity. What if, beyond an animal’s usual browns, tans and grays, there were a spectrum of colors that our human eyes couldn’t see? What if dogs really were lime green or cerulean blue?
These portraits are my way of transforming the actual into the wonderfully surreal.
May they surprise and intrigue you.
I'm a native of Kentucky and have lived in the South, Midwest and Northeast. North Carolina is my home now.

I'm currently not doing custom portrait work but my dog art is available to purchase on Society6.
